The Typhidot test is an easy blood test for typhoid fever that detects antibodies (IgM and IgG) against Salmonella typhi, the organism that causes the disease. This should allow the doctor to assess whether the infection is current or past and start treatment if necessary. This test is advantageous, as it can be performed in areas of the country where typhoid fever occurs frequently. Furthermore, the test can give results as quickly as 1 to 3 hours, allowing for faster diagnosis as well.
Process
- A health professional will take a small amount of blood from a vein in your arm.
- The sample is mixed with special reagents contained within the test kit to identify antibodies.

When to Get Tested
