The Leptospira Antibody IgM, EIA test is a blood test for the diagnosis of a recent infection in humans by the bacterium Leptospira and the disease, leptospirosis. The infection may occur after contact with contaminated water, soil, or animals. The test measures the level of IgM antibodies, which are usually detectable early in the disease. The early diagnosis is clinically relevant to initiate therapies and avoid any serious problems arising from the infection.
Process

- The blood sample will be assessed through the enzyme-linked immunoassay (EIA) method.
- You will get a report within a timeframe of 1 to 5 days with results being positive, negative or borderline.
When to Get Tested
You may want to have this test done if you have any signs of fever, muscle aches or jaundice, and have had contact with water or animals that could be contaminated. You may also have this test done if leptospirosis is suspected but other tests were inconclusive.
