The Infertility Comprehensive Panel for Females consists of various tests that evaluate important hormones and reproductive health to establish the reason for lack of pregnancy. The tests help to look at the egg supply, hormone balance, and examine the thyroid function, which will provide doctors with information for treatment and help them improve pregnancy chances for the patient.
Process
- A blood sample will be taken, typically early in the menstrual cycle (days 2-5).
- The lab will measure hormone levels such as, but not limited to AMH, FSH, LH and others
- Imaging tests such as ultrasound may be completed to evaluate the uterus and fallopian tubes
When to Get Tested
If you are a woman that has been trying to conceive for over 12 months (or 6 months if over age 35) would benefit from the testing, or if you have irregular menstrual cycles, ovulation issues and/or previous pregnancy loss
Sample Type
A blood sample taken early in the menstrual cycle is the sample type for this test.
Test Preparation
Do not take hormonal medications unless your doctor instructs otherwise. Follow any specific timing instructions, particularly relating to your menstrual cycle.
Understanding Your Results
The results will show whether hormone levels and ovarian function are appropriate or if there are concerns such as low egg reserve or hormonal imbalances. Your doctor will explain the results and will provide treatment and/or recommend any additional tests, if necessary.
