Process
- Fasting is required for 12 hours prior to the test.
- A blood sample will be collected and tested pre-meal, and 2 hours after a meal. Glucose and lipids will be measured, along with other relevant markers.
- A first-morning urine sample will be collected to assess kidney function.
When to Get Tested
You should request this test if you have symptoms such as constant thirst, increased urination, family history of diabetes, obesity, or if you are over 45 years of age. It is especially important for those with a previous diagnosis of diabetes to do follow-up testing to assess the condition.
