Process
- A blood sample will be collected from a vein in your arm.
- The blood will be combined with anti-A, anti-B, and anti-Rh antibodies.
- The presence or absence of clumping will determine your blood type and Rh status
When to Get Tested
This test is recommended when having a blood transfusion or organ transplant, before a surgical procedure, and to determine your blood type. If you are pregnant, you should know your blood type; if you do not know your blood type, then you should have it tested.
